This design/build remedial investigation led
to the removal of 37 various-sized underground storage tank (USTs), and the remediation
of contaminated
soils at the former Del Bonita radar site near Browning,
Montana.
Extensive coordination and communication between MCS
and the involved parties, including the US Army Corps
of Engineers, the Blackfoot Indian Nation, the State
of Montana Department of Environmental Quality, the
US Environmental Protection Agency, and county agencies,
was required to successfully complete the project.
To fulfill project requirements, MCS

assessed potential for soil and groundwater contamination; |
● |
permitted, pumped, and disposed of approximately 10,000 gallons of product; |
● |
disposed of approximately 10,000 gallons of hydrocarbon-contaminated water; |
● |
removed 37 USTs - up to 25,000 gallons in size; and |
● |
removed and land-treated 5,800 cy of hydrocarbon-contaminated soil. |
