Our senior engineers average more than 16 years of
experience in dealing with hazardous materials and waste
management. We have assisted many industries and municipalities
with their regulatory compliance issues including US
Environmental Protection Agency’s National Pollutant
Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permit program.
MCS completed a cleanup of over 120 containers,
drums, and bags of various-phased known and unknown
wastes, including oil-based paints, adhesives, methyl
ethyl ketone, asbestos, and roofing tar. To fulfill
project requirements, MCS
● |
inventoried, characterized, profiled, and packaged all waste for manifesting and disposal; |
● |
sampled soil and removed and disposed of soil in container-leakage areas; and |
● |
documented all work in final report, including profiles and manifests. |
MCS also responded to an acid spill for this same industrial
client in Missoula, Montana. The spill, consisting of
about
400 gallons of 93% sulfuric acid,
was assessed and a neutralization plan developed for
the area, which included the roofs, four stories of
two buildings, and sump drains. MCS neutralized
the acid with soda ash and directed the wet removal
clean-up of the neutralized material. We tested the
spill area for residual acid and potential employee
hazards before submitting a final report to the client
and regulatory agencies.
