Stevensville Ranger Station Accessibility Design/Build
MCS secured a competitive bid, best-value, design/build project for renovation of the Stevensville Ranger Station, Bitterroot National Forest, Montana. To complete the project, MCS

constructed a new office addition and renovated an existing space to include new roofing siding and windows plus two ADA concrete ramps; and

improved the existing parking facility including a new storm drain system, improved vehicle access, additional parking spaces, sidewalks, curbs, and gutters.

In the proposal stage, MCS’s construction management
team met with the end-user and then worked with design
consultants (civil engineer, architect, and structural engineer) to create a preliminary design modeled on feedback from the client. This pre-award research was significant in establishing an accurate cost estimate. Following award, the customer stated that MCS’s design was unique, since it utilized the new addition roof to also serve as a cover for one of the ADA ramp which helped the customer’s budget and increased green-space by limiting site disturbance. The customer was also impressed with the civil design, since it addressed obvious existing problems and incorporated ideas from facility employees.

Stevensville Ranger Station Accessibility additionLess than two weeks after award, MCS submitted a structural design that allowed foundation construction to begin while architectural details were still in production. Throughout the project, construction stayed close behind actual design production. One of MCS's main goals was to reduce the overall project duration and lessen the impact upon the Station's operations.
