MCS restored this stream near Superior where soils were contaminated
with heavy metals. We also constructed a waste repository and
demolished and installed a new bridge
over the creek. This entailed installing a
cofferdam; clearwater-diversion of the creek; excavating
and hauling approximately 600 cy of lead- and arsenic-contaminated
soil to the waste repository; demolishing the old bridge;
and installing a new concrete bridge. MCS also developed
the health and safety, quality control, and traffic-control
plans and clearwater-diversion and bridge designs. Leadwork
and personal and ambient air monitoring was conducted
during the project and a final project report was prepared.
Following Montana’s August 2000 forest fires,
MCSwascontracted on several projects related to the
fires for erosion control, fish passage, and forest
