MCS Environmental’s Mountain Contractors Group
performed a soil remediation and capping project of
lead- and arsenic-contaminated soil from an operating
truck stop at the Bunker Hill Superfund site in Kellogg, Idaho. The $1.04
million project entailed the excavation and hauling of
approximately 14,000 cy of lead- and arsenic-contaminated
soil.
This project also involved the installation of
approximately 1,500 lf of 2-foot diameter drainage pipe,
extensive traffic and site control, and rebuilding and
paving of the 11-acre truck stop. The scope also required the development of plans including: health
and safety; lead work; quality control;
and traffic control. MCS also performed personal
and ambient air monitoring, and prepared a final project
report. To complete project requirements, MCS also
